Nkc Geotech Home Page

I am an engineering mining geologist specialising in the investigation and treatment of disused mineworkings in the North Wales coal and lead mining areas.

Coal and metalliferous mining were major industries until the middle of the 20th century. The legacy of their operations remains with disused mining tunnels and abandoned mineshafts.

These features continue to pose a threat to the stability of the ground. The intention of this site is to explain the nature of these hazards and to provide information on the remedial treatment required.
Company Information

Nkc Geotech Ltd works principally in the North Wales coal and lead mining areas, and I have accumulated extensive plans and records for these areas.

Nkc Geotech Ltd was established in 1973 by myself, Neil Catlow.

I studied geology at school, and worked for South Lancs Boring during my university holidays from 1967 to 1970. They were based at the privately owned Windy Arbour Colliery near Wigan. After graduating, I supervised mining investigations in Lancashire and North Wales before leaving the company and buying my own drilling equipment to set up Nkc Geotech Ltd in Buckley in 1973.

All the investigations and work on site are carried out personally by myself.
